TRIP TO TALCA, CHILE

The family decided to take a trip to a city named Talca this past Monday. It is located about 2.5 to 3 hours south of Santiago. This was one trip of many that we will probably take over the next several months. The options are almost endless when one thinks about where the Lord may want us to start our first church. Be in prayer with us for what the future holds and where the Lord will have us to be. We have several pictures that we took and you will notice two things in particular. There is a picture of a J.W. Church and also of a Catholic Church. Beside that, when we first arrived in the city it was lunch time. We went to: of course McDonalds! While there we saw four Mormons having their lunch as well. We talked to a lady named Judy at McDonalds for about 15 minutes and during our conversation we asked her about Baptist Churches in the area. She said that she did not know of any and the whole time we drove around we did not see any either.

Christmas With Missionary Friends

We enjoyed a good Christmas here in Chile. We were able to spend Christmas day with several other missionary families. Everyone had a good time together. The kids played outside and the adults stayed inside trying to stay a little cooler: Yes it is hot here! The families included were the Holts, Kenneys, McBryars, and the Rogers. It's good to have other Americans to fellowship with. Here are a couple of group pictures of the day.

Los Dominicos

The family had a good time Christmas shopping for presents for family back home. We went to a unique shopping area called Los Dominicos. We picked up typical items for here in Chile, but are not common in other places. I took several pictures while there and you will notice the little boy that I got a picture of. I'm not sure who he is exactly, but he was interested in getting his picture taken. I can't include pictures of the presents obviously since they are surprises for family back home.

God bless,

THANKSGIVING IN CHILE

Our family enjoyed a great time around the table this morning. We decided to do a THANKSGIVING breakfast and go around the table expressing what everyone was grateful for. It's amazing how many things you can think of that the Lord blesses us with each and every day; but the number one response would have to be the LORD HIMSELF! Where would we be, if it was not for Him and what He did for us! Amen!
We are especially thankful to our family, friends, and those that support us through their prayers and finances: Allowing us to be in Chile to share Jesus Christ!
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and we love you all!

COOK OUT

In the middle of September we had a great time with some fellow missionaries and also several different Chilean families. It's always good for the family to have some good fellowship and enjoy being with others. This was during their patriotic time of Dia De La Patria. We had a good time of playing games and pretty much eating all day long. WOW, what a barbecue!

Can you notice the two gringos among the Chileans; not too hard, huh.

By the way: I didn't leave my Tennessee hat back in the States.

Before the actual ride.

During the ride!

CULTS AT WORK

Here is a sample of a JW tract that made its way into our mailbox recently. What a reminder to us that we should be diligent about getting the truth out whenever possible. Regardless of where you are, there will be oposition and teachings that go away from the truth of God's Word and what it says.

GOOD RESPONSE TO YOUTH CONGRESS

There was a good response to the youth congress this week. Pastor Austin Gardner of Vision Baptist Church in Alpharetta, GA did a woderful job challenging people with the Word of God. Many came forward as the Lord dealt with their hearts. How we all need to be more mindful as God directs our lives for His glory. We pray that many will get in the Word of God and seek Him in their lives. Here are a couple of singing clips and a preaching clip from the Youth Congress.

YOUTH CONGRESS

Be in prayer for this week here in Chile. The third annual Youth Congress is being held to encourage young people and others about their dedication to the work of the Lord. I had mentioned many times on deputation about praying for workers in the harvest; this a desperate need when one hopes to accomplish something for God. The theme of preaching this month has been "Missing You". The Lord desires each one of His children to be involved in "HIS" will for their lives. Pray that many will surrender their lives to Jesus this week and live a fulfilling life in the work of the Lord!

HOME CHURCH

We are very excited to see what is going on with our home church. These were some pictures sent to show how the progress is going with the building of our new church. I thought I would put these out and let everyone see how the Lord is working at Friendship Baptist Church in Harrison, TN. AMEN!

Congregation Singing

Congregation singing; second Sunday service in Chile as well.

Video Of Church

Here is a video clip from the church we are attending. This was taken the second Sunday that we were here. We are enjoying ourselves being with the people of Chile, they love the Lord and it shows in their lives. This is Faith Baptist Church that you are seeing. Brother Jason Holt is the pastor of this church and is doing a tremendous work here in Chile.

GOOD DAY OF GETTING HOUSE READY

We've had a good day of getting a few items bought and some things done at the house. I got the washer and dryer hooked up and Stephanie did quite a bit of cleaning around the house. We are a little closer to getting moved into our house. Hopefully we will get in next week and Lord willing our container will come in by next week as well. It has already been delayed for one week, hopefully no longer.
We are looking forward to tomorrow's service. The only bad thing at this time is that we don't understand what is being said during the preaching. This is a good incentive to really learn the language as fast as possible. We do pray for the lost to be convicted of their sins and saved by the grace of God!
Sincerely yours in Christ,
The McBryars

EXCITING DAYS

The past few days have been very exciting to say the least. When we first arrived there was a medical missions group in from the states. I spent several days at the clinic meeting many of the people in that group. They are very dedicated in what they are doing for the Lord. They no doubt helped many people physically, but there was also more importantly spiritual help available.
The last two days and some days still to come have involved shopping for household items and doing some necessary paper work. We have purchased our washer and dryer, refrigerator, and some smaller appliances as well. Today (the 17th.) we will try to purchase a few more items and also try to get our identification cards for everyone. All five of us have to have one and these are of priority. The first place we went to yesterday to begin this process was unable to help us because their internet was down. Hopefully it will be up today.
Do continue to pray for our container and its safe arrival.
God bless,
The McBryars

CONTAINER PACKED

This past Friday, May 23rd our container got packed. Friends and family were such a blessing as this great task was completed. The most exciting part was to see that all of our belongings actually fit onto the 8'x8'x20' container. Everyone did a tremendous job in making this happen in the allotted time given. As you can see, some of us were really sweating it until everything was finished.
Do pray for the container to get to its destination with no glitches. Pretty much everything we own, with the exception of a few items to carry on the plane is on its way to Chile via this container. Oh how we need it to arrive safely.
Continue to remember our family as we will be leaving for Chile on June 10th.
God bless,
The McBryars

Next Time

Next Time:
The next prayer letter after this one will be when we are in Chile! Wow, what a sobering thought as we tie up loose ends here before we depart. We are finishing up a few meetings, shipping our container on the 23rd of this month, and visiting family before we take off.

June 10th:
June 10th is the day. We will be leaving from Atlanta, GA, flying to Miami, FL, and then to Santiago, Chile. We will arrive the next morning on the 11th at about 6:00 a.m. We are very excited about getting on into the country and doing the work that the Lord has called us to do.

Just a little more:
We are very close to having all of our support. We are currently at 95% and are expecting God to do great things. We literally just need 5 or 6 more churches to bring us on up to where we need to be. Be in prayer concerning what the Lord may want you do to and bring in this last bit of support!

Thankful:
We are so thankful and grateful for all of you that have given sacrificially towards this ministry. Because of you, God’s work will be accomplished and souls will be born again! We praise the Lord for all of you and your faithfulness.

The Beginning of a Process

We have begun the process of packing. We have asked many to pray about this part of moving. There is a lot of organizing involved when it comes to shipping a container to another country. We are glad to see how things are coming together so far. There is still much to do, but we are definitely seeing progress.
We want to thank everyone for keeping us in your prayers as we finish up deputation and begin our move on June 10th.
We'll try to keep everyone more up-to-date on happenings in our life as things progress.
Hebrews 6:10 "For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister."
God bless,

CHILE
Our hearts are heavily burdened for the souls of the country that God has called us to. The people are steeped in religion and idol worship that has them in bondage to the things of this world. As we go, please pray for the 16 million souls that reside here. Of the many religions in this country, 89% of them are Roman Catholic. We know that there is hope for the Chileans through the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word.
DATE SET
Praise the Lord for our departure date! We have visas in hand and plane tickets have been purchased for June 10th. God has been so good to us in every way possible. We are currently at 91% of our support and just need a few more churches to take us on monthly. We would ask that you pray about what the Lord may want you to do personally to bring in the remaining 9%. We know that God “is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.”
MOVING
The time has come to get everything together; and I do mean everything. As a family we have moved from one place to another, but never like this before. There is so much to pack and organize it seems to be an overwhelming task at times. Things are getting close and it is coming to what is often referred to as “crunch time.” Do pray for us in this specific area to get things accomplished in an orderly and timely manner!
God bless

VISAS APPROVED

Praise the Lord for our visa approvals. On March the 10th we got word that our visas had been approved. We are so excited to see God work in such a mighty way. The whole process went extremely smooth with no glitches whatsoever.

We only need 12 more supporters at an average of $60 per month to have our support! Would you be in prayer about what the Lord may want you to do concerning the remainder of what is needed.

We want to thank everyone for all that you have done for our family, you have been such a blessing!

Now that our visas are approved, we officially have up to June the 14th to enter the country. We are not planning on waiting that long, but know that this is our deadline and the latest that we can go in.
God Bless,
The McBryar Family

After approval of our visas, we will have 90 days to enter the country. That will put our target date right at the end of May!!

We currently have 84% of our support.
Be in prayer with us concerning the remainder of support.

Visa Applications In The Mail

Today was exciting as we made our trip to Atlanta. The family was able to meet with the Chilean Consul at 11:30 a.m. as opposed to the original 3:00 p.m. scheduled time. We had asked for everyone to pray for no glitches and those prayers were answered during this meeting for today. Everything went smoothly and much quicker than we ever expected!
It will still be around a month before we hear any news about the actual approval on the visas. Regardless, we are glad to have them going to their destination (which will arrive by noon tomorrow), to begin the process of approval.
Thanks to all that have prayed and given financially toward this part of the process of getting to Chile!

Attaining Our Visas

On January 24th the whole family will be travelling to Atlanta, GA. We will be meeting with the Chilean Consul at 3:00 p.m. to apply for our visas. This is a vital step in our leaving for the country. Be in prayer with us that we will have all of the paper work done correctly and that there will be no glitches in the process. We are gathering and finishing everything on our end so we will be ready for that day.
God bless,

Volcano eruption in Chile

A volcano in southern Chile erupted on Tuesday, spewing lava and ash, and forcing the evacuation of about 150 people, officials said.Authorities declared an "early alert" around the Llaima volcano, readying police and firefighters in case further evacuations were needed, Chile's Emergency Bureau said in a communique.A column of smoke rose more than 9,300 feet into the sky and television images showed thick smoke and lava emerging from Llaima, one of the most active of the dozens of volcanos in Chile.Emergency bureau director Carmen Fernandez said 150 tourists and National Forest Service employees were evacuated from the Conguillio National Park where the volcano is located, 400 miles south of Santiago. If necessary, residents would also be evacuated from Melipeuco, a town of at least 5,000 located 8 miles from the volcano, officials said.Bureau officials and vulcanologists were flying over the volcano to monitor the situation. The 9,400-foot volcano last erupted in May, but has not suffered a major blast since 1994.
